Sensational Sixth form and GCSE results
The Summer has ended with students and staff celebrating a sensational set of Sixth Form results. Results in all types of qualification were the best ever recorded. More students than ever before took up University places. Approximately 70% of Year 13 secured their first choice in predominantly local, prestigious, Universities such as Durham, Newcastle, York and Leeds and Hull. Courses that were followed were diverse including Biosciences, Midwifery, Mathematics, English, History. While some have opted to study specialist degrees in Media, ICT, Performing Arts, Teacher Training or Agricultural and Livestock Sciences.
All who wanted to enter the world of employment, secured jobs or began their career studying Higher Level Apprenticeships in fields such as Engineering or Media.
We make no apology for repeating our mission to students and staff at every opportunity - to give all students the opportunity to secure a place at University or a career of their choice and for the Class of 2016 it is mission accomplished!
A week later Year 11 students, staff and families celebrated another record breaking set of results at Norton College as 74% of the year group secured A*-C in English and Maths. We also think our Progress 8 score will be brilliant too when these are calculated. These are the best results in the history of the College. Last year’s achievements were brilliant and to go beyond expectations this year is incredible. Once again staff’s dedication and students’ hard work have been rewarded and children of all abilities have made amazing progress. I hope it gives all connected to the College a real sense of pride in the Class of 2016. Year 10 look set to continue the trend for high achievement next year as Statistics and Philosophy and Ethics leaders told me they were delighted with their performance of Year 10 in their GCSE entries
