KS4 Options Process

Year 9 is a milestone in your time at school ‐ the beginning of courses in a variety of subjects. Until now you have taken the same subjects but next year will be different. You will have the opportunity of studying a wider range of subjects and be able to choose, with help, which ones suit you best.

The process of how to choose your options begins in the Spring term.  You will be invited to take part in an options taster day in January of Year 9. Here you can start to learn about the courses that we offer.  At this time we will also hold an open evening for parents and carers to outline how the process works and answer any questions that you may have. In February, you will be asked to choose your options. All students will then have a meeting with a member of the senior leadership team to discuss their choices. At this stage we will write to you to confirm your options. The Year 9 options process is overseen by Mr Stones (Assistant Headteacher, Curriculum & Assessment) and Ms Briggs (Year 9 Progress Leader) and there will be plenty of opportunities throughout the year for children to ask these staff for advice and guidance.
